IGRA and Class III Gaming IGRA clearly defines three levels of gaming allowed on Indian reservations. The Lower Lake Rancheria Koi Nation's economic development plan includes the operation of a Class III gaming facility offering a variety of table games, slot machines and electronic games of chance. Our Class III gaming facility will be closely regulated by our tribal gaming commission. This commission will operate independently within the tribal government with the sole intent of ensuring that any and all tribal gaming meets the Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) established by the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC). The Washington, D.C.-based NIGC is responsible for regulating gaming activities on federal Indian lands as well as determining gaming classifications. In adhering to the standards set forth by the NIGC as well as by today technology, the tribe hopes to offer an array of exciting games that will attract patrons to its facility, in turn serving as a catalyst for future diversified economic development on the reservation. As
mandated by IGRA, revenue generated by Indian gaming will be used to fund vital
tribal government services for our people. The Koi Nation plans to utilize these
resources to provide its people with critically needed housing, improved healthcare,
new roads and infrastructure upgrades, vocational training and employment services,
educational opportunities for tribal children, and proper care for tribal elders. |
